Project: Demolition and Asbestos Removal

Location: SITA Waste Transfer Station, Bond Warehouse, Trafford Park, Manchester

Client: Lambert Smith Hampton

This project located in close proximity to the Manchester United Football ground at Old Trafford, required the demolition and asbestos removal of the SITA Waste Transfer Station,  Although an Asbestos Survey showed no notifiable asbestos, the removal of non notifiable asbestos had to be treated with extreme care due to the high volume of roofing material covering 10,000 square metres.  Experienced, skilled demolition and asbestos removal operatives carried out this project to the client’s specification.

The scope of works specified was the total demolition of the SITA Waste Transfer Station, including asbestos removal, all slabs, footings and foundations to be grubbed up and the whole area backfilled with 6F2 material.  The site was required to be cleared with all waste materials being removed.  Priority was given to ensure that pedestrians and traffic on the adjoining main roads and throughfares were unaffected by the works and the site was maintained in a fully secure condition throughout the works.  All hazards were closely monitored with risk assessments, especially during daytime hours. Oil Remediation and contaminated ground clearance were also carried out successfully on this project.

The site was completed with the erection of Paladin fencing.
